pyVideoTrans Software License and Service Agreement

Welcome to pyVideoTrans (hereinafter referred to as "the Software")! The Software is a free, open-source local video translation and speech transcription tool. Before installing, copying, or using the Software in any way, please read and fully understand all terms in this agreement carefully.
Your installation, copying, downloading, or use of the Software in any form indicates that you have read, understood, and unconditionally accept all terms of this agreement. If you do not agree to any part of this agreement, please immediately stop using and completely delete the Software from your device.
1. License Grant and Software Nature
- Open Source and Free: The Software is a free software released under the GPL-v3 open-source license. You can obtain the source code and Windows pre-packaged versions from the official channel (
https://github.com/jianchang512/pyvideotrans) or the documentation site (https://pyvideotrans.com). - No Commercial Sale: The developer has not authorized any entity or individual to sell the Software. Any acquisition of the Software through paid channels is unrelated to the developer, and the developer assumes no responsibility for this.
- Important Reminder: For third-party APIs, you must provide your own account and key (stored only locally), and any fees incurred are charged by the third party, unrelated to the developer. The developer only provides API integration technical specifications in the Software. Refer to each API agreement to confirm commercial use permissions and fee standards.
2. Data Privacy
- Local Operation: The core functionality of the Software runs entirely on your local computer and does not collect or upload any of your personal information, video files, or operation data to the developer's server.
- Third-Party Services: When you choose to use integrated third-party API services (such as Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, Edge TTS, etc.), relevant data will be sent directly from your computer to the corresponding third-party service provider. Your data processing will be subject to the privacy policy and terms of use of that third-party service provider. The developer does not participate in this process and assumes no responsibility for the data security or privacy leaks of third-party services.
- Version Updates and Error Reporting: The Software obtains the latest version number via the static file located at
https://pyvideotrans.com/version.json;
When you click the "Report Error" button in the Software, it will open the error submission page athttps://bbs.pyvideotrans.com/postand display the error information. You still need to click the "Publish" button again on that page to submit the error information to the developer. Otherwise, the error information will only be kept locally and in your browser cache and will not be submitted.
3. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Software is provided "as is" without any express or implied warranties of any kind, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- No Warranty: The developer does not guarantee that the Software will meet all your needs, or that the Software will operate without interruption or errors. You assume all risks associated with using the Software.
- Limitation of Liability: Under no circumstances and based on any legal theory (whether contract, tort, or otherwise), the developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use the Software. This includes, but is not limited to: data loss, file corruption, loss of profits, business interruption, computer failure, or any other commercial damages or losses, even if the developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
- User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for all content processed through the Software. You must ensure that you have the legal right to process this content and comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your region and the People's Republic of China, including but not limited to copyright law and intellectual property law. Any legal consequences arising from the illegal use of the Software are your sole responsibility.
4. Your Obligations
- Data Backup: Software defects or improper operation may lead to data loss or file corruption. Before processing any important files with the Software, you have the absolute responsibility to fully back up your original files and important data.
- Legal Use: You promise not to use the Software for any illegal activities, including but not limited to infringing on others' copyrights or disseminating illegal information.
5. Other Terms
- Agreement Modification: The developer reserves the right to modify the terms of this agreement at any time. The modified agreement will be published on the official channel without further notice. Your continued use of the Software will be deemed as acceptance of the modified agreement.
- Final Interpretation Right: To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer retains the right of final interpretation of this agreement.
If you have read and agree to all the above terms, please start using the Software. Otherwise, please delete the Software.
