During the use of video translation software, you may frequently encounter errors, such as the errors in the title and in the images below.
Error messages usually contain the following characters:
HTTPSConnection
Connection error
ConnectionError
HTTPSConnectionPool
Max retries exceeded with url
Errors mainly occur in the following three usage scenarios:
- Selecting Google/OpenAI ChatGPT/Gemini/ in the translation channel
- Selecting OpenAI TTS/Elevenlabs.io/GoogleTTS in the dubbing channel
- Selecting OpenAI recognition API/ in speech recognition
Why does this happen? There are several main reasons:
Services inaccessible directly from mainland China require a VPN; otherwise, errors will inevitably occur.
From the above three scenarios, it can be seen that these are services that require connection to foreign APIs. As is well known, due to the Great Firewall, they cannot be accessed directly from mainland China. To use them, you must use a VPN. If you cannot open the Google website (https://www.google.com) and the OpenAI official website (https://chat.openai.com) on your local machine, then errors are inevitable.
Local machine can access Google with VPN, but proxy settings are incorrect.
If your local machine can normally access Google, but the translation software still produces errors, please check if the Network Proxy textbox in the software interface has a proxy address filled in. If there is content, but you don't know what it means or its purpose, and it's not something you intentionally entered, please delete it and try again.
If it still doesn't work, please check your VPN tool and find the HTTP proxy port number indicated in it. If your VPN tool is running on your local machine, fill in http://127.0.0.1:port number
in the textbox. For example, V2Ray series software generally fills in http://127.0.0.1:10809
, and Clash series software generally fills in http://127.0.0.1:7890
.
Special Note: If you don't understand the above content, delete all content in the network proxy textbox and leave it blank. Either leave it blank or ensure that the filled information is a correct and usable proxy address.
Remember not to randomly fill in the network proxy textbox with website addresses or API addresses. Either leave it blank or fill it with a usable proxy address and port.
The software will automatically obtain the proxy from the system by default. Generally, if your local machine is using a VPN, it can access these services even if the network proxy textbox remains blank, but it may fail due to permissions, security policies, security software, firewalls, etc.
If there is no problem accessing from your local machine, but the software still frequently reports errors, please fill in the correct proxy address in the network proxy textbox.
Domestic translation services and AI services do not support access with foreign proxies or foreign IPs.
When using Baidu Translate/Tencent Translate/ByteDance Volcano Engine Translate/Doubao Model Recognition in the translation software and encountering network connection errors or unsupported authorization prompts, it may be because a foreign IP (such as a VPN foreign node/VPN tool) was used during connection.
These domestic translation and AI services prohibit access from foreign IPs. If you use a proxy to access these services, errors will certainly occur. Simply delete the content in the network proxy textbox and close your VPN tool if necessary.
